'Cinco De Mayo' Cilantro Sauce Recipes

Happy Cinco De Mayo


We love being inspired during holidays like ‘Cinco De Mayo’ to cook our favorite Spanish themed meals. One especially important ingredient is Cilantro aka Corriander, which is an herb we like to use in many of our dishes. Cilantro is intricate to cuisine all around the world, because  of its unique flavor of citrus & spice. Cilantro has an array of health benefits including antioxidant effects, anti inflammatory properties, mood benefits, anti microbial properties and more. Who knew eating tacos sprinkled in some cilantro could be so good

Here are a few simple, delicious and quick sauce recipes to add to street tacos, empanadas, taquitos, burritos, nachos and any other fiesta style dish 


Cilantro Lime Sour Cream

*Can be made Vegan or Vegetarian (to include Dairy) both available in the recipe 


1 - 12 oz package of tofu (silken preferred if not no worries just use a softer tofu)

1 Tbsp olive oil

Or for Dairy substitute (italicised)

½ c. sour cream

½ c. greek yogurt

½ lime juiced

½ tsp salt

1 garlic clove

½ bunch cilantro (de stemmed)

  • Add all ingredients to a blender or food processor and blend until smooth

Cilantro Vegan Ranch


1 ½ c. vegan mayo

¼ non dairy milk (we like to use unflavored rice milk)

1 ½ tsp apple cider vinegar

3 clove garlic

1 tsp onion powder

½ bunch cilantro (de stemmed)

¼ tsp paprika

¼ tsp pepper

Salt to taste

  • Add all ingredients to a blender or food processor and blend until smooth
